Blackbird, you flew into my mind today
Questions started flooding my heart
Are you doing okay in your world of books?
Have you been able to rise and find a new start?

Blackbird, I hope you can say yes to that
You should be happy and carefree like the wind
That’s how I picture you in my memories
Always standing for your beliefs, refusing to bend

Blackbird, don’t become trapped in your own head
You don’t realize what a rare gem you are
Just because the outside world can’t always see it
Doesn’t mean you’re anything less than a shining star

Blackbird, please take care of yourself
I hope you find happiness in both life and love
Your heart is too pure to be eternally alone
Blackbird, I hope you find your darling Dove

Reminds me of the last scene from the movie “Public Enemies” where the protagonist leaves a dying message for her, “Bye bye, blackbird.”

    1. Thank you so much, my dear 🙂

  3. Damn. That’s beautiful. I have always loved this message of ‘not looks, but heart’ and it does sadden me how people can’t seem to get a hang of it. Great poem. Cheers.
