Tread Carefully, Love

a reckoning that's coming to make something right

Hold onto me
But don’t hold me back
Keep me in your sights, love
Just give me some slack

It’s a fine line to walk
Please tread very carefully
In a flash, I’ll fly away
I tend to shy away so easily

I crave intimacy so much
Though it scares me to no end
You don’t know how hard it is to let go
I’ll break before I can bend

And when I do, look out
I’ll shatter into lovely shards
Glittering, shimmering fragments
Will be all that remain of my heart

Are you ready to walk this line?
Can you keep a steady pace?
Will you be the one I’m looking for?
Will you handle me with grace?

  1. This is beautiful! It reminds me of the one line from a well-known poem, “treat lightly because you tread on my dreams.” I know and understand what you have written here, I feel every word. HUGS!

It gets very old and boring when people continue to be nice about what they share – it robs us all of the truth of life. Even the ugly in life teaches and heals each of us and humanity. You spread truth and I very much admire that. Debs

      2. I agree… writing should have no censorship. If it does, you’re doing it wrong.
